Quotation (21st February 2006)

I never saw an ugly thing in my life: for let the form of an object be what it may, light, shade, and perspective will always make it beautiful.

Oil Painting Demonstration, Menston Art Club (13th February 2006)

Thank you to everyone, for making me feel so welcome last night.
Below, as promised, is the demonstration painting, as it was at the end of the evening and now as it is complete.
As always, if you do have any questions or comments, please contact me.

I have softened and added to the lighter areas within the backdrop of trees.
A little texture has been added to the foreshore, with more heavy impasto to the left hand side to emphasise the light.
The background boats have been 'worked into' and highlights added.
Details and highlights were added to the two main boats, together with mooring ropes.
