"Not A Sausage"

Used as a way of describing either something as free of charge, or as someone being penniless, the saying comes from Cockney Rhyming Slang.
Between the 17th & 18th centuries, sausages & mashed potatoes were the staple diet of the everyday Londoner, to be without 'sausages & mash' was to be without 'cash'

Thanks to everyone who attended my Watercolour demonstration at Duffield on the 19th October where I was made to feel most welcome.
On viewing the painting at home in the studio, I decided not to alter anything, just to add a little texture to the beach foreground.
The 'spatter' was added using an old tooth brush, with mixes of Ultramarine Blue & Burnt Sienna, varying the mixes from light to dark, warm to cool.

The Royal Society of Marine Artist's Annual Exhibiton Demonstration

On Wednesday the 17th October 2007 I will be demonstrating an Oil painting at the Mall Galleries, London, for the Royal Society of Marine Artists, starting at 11am.

The demonstration will aim to show how I undertake ‘plein air’ painting.
