Leven Art Society Demonstration, 29th March

Easter Traditions

Did you know that traditionally in the North of England, at Eastertime, the game of Egg Tapping (or Egg Dumping or Egg Jarping ) was played?

To play the game each player has a hard boiled egg and has to hit the other players eggs with their own. The winner being the holder of the last intact egg. The losers get to eat theirs!!!

If you know of anymore 'interesting' Easter Traditions, please let me know!

Easter Island

Discovered in 1771 on Easter Sunday, (hence its name), Easter Island is now a World Heritage Site, but also the most isolated place on the planet, at a distance of 3,700 km (2300 miles or a 5 hour flight) from the nearest populated point, which is the Chilean main land.

Yarm Art Society 10th March 2008

Thank you to everyone who attended my demonstration at Yarm Art Society last night.

Here is the completed painting.

I continued to soften the previously masked areas, representing 'sky holes' in the background trees. I used Cobalt Violet & Raw Sienna for this.

A further wash of Cerulium Blue & Cobalt Violet was added to the cabin area and a last wash of Ultramrine Blue & Burnt Sienna to the hull of the boat.

A final wash of Cobalt Blue & Permanent Magenta was added to the immediate foreground.

Details, such as the mooring ropes, handrail, windows on the cottage and texture to the beach were added.

This additional work took me around 45 minutes to complete.
