Whitby Art Society Pastel demonstration 12th August

Thank you to everyone who came to my Pastel demonstration last night. I hope you enjoyed it?

This is the painting as it was when I finished the demonstration.

To complete the painting, I carried out the following steps:

  • Continued 'blocking in'
  • Sharpened all the important edges with pastel pencils
  • Added details ie ropes, numbers, lettering etc.
  • Enhanced the reflections using pastel pencils

This is the finished painting, 'Canal Reflections / Venice'

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Celebrating 100 years of Whitby's Swing Bridge

If you are able to get to Whitby on Saturday 8th August, you might like to join in the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Swing bridge.

I will be showing this painting in an exhibition at the Pannett Gallery, in Pannett Park.

The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, photographs & archival paintings, all documenting the bridges 100 year history. Opening at 12:30pm for 3 weeks

There will be lots going on around the Town too, including a 'Sail Past', the Cleveland Police Band, the Marske Fisherman's Choir, Saltburn Victorian Society, Paul Nicholas School of Acting, Stakesby School Steel Band & the folk group, 'Coblers Monday', to name but a few!!
