He is the current
Archivist for
the Society.
It has been
primarily because of this exclusive membership that Robert's work
has come to the attention of some prominent galleries, where his
work hangs with many of the country's leading artists, which should
further enhance his already established reputation.
He is listed
in the current addition of 'Who's Who in Art'.
Born in Burton-upon-Trent,
Staffordshire in 1949, Robert worked in the Structural Engineering
field as a Computer Aided Design Manager until 1992 when he moved
to Whitby, North Yorkshire and became a full time painter.
Working in Watercolour,
Oil, and Pastel, Robert's main inspiration is the challenge of capturing
light and atmosphere in a modern impressionistic style.
He paints, mainly
landscape and coastal scenery, around his home in North Yorkshire,
or on painting trips including, Cornwall, the South Coast, Wales,
Scotland and further afield in Venice, France, India or anywhere
where there is an opportunity to portray nature and her moods.
Although primarily
a landscape artist, Robert occasionally paints interiors, sometimes
including a figure in the composition. As in his landscape paintings,
Robert strives to reproduce the quality of light in the chosen subject.
Robert holds an Annual
Exhibition in Whitby & regularly demonstrates for Art Societies
throughout the country, in watercolours, oils and pastels.(View
Robert's Demonstration Page).
Robert's work
has been featured in several publications, including the Artist,
the Artist and Illustrator, Yorkshire Life, Yorkshire Today, 'How
To Paint Watercolour Lanscapes' and the
Dalesman.
